I am currently playing GPL with a Monster Voodoo2 card, on a PII 450. Will
adding a second Voodoo2 card make a lot of difference?( how much better does
GPL look at the 1024 resolution?)
Thanks for any help

 Paul,
Not only will it look much better at 10x7, but with dual boards higher frame
rate, I have found my control to be better. I had real trouble with the Ferrari,
but now with 2 Voodoo2 12megs in the beast, I seem to have a much better seat of
the pants feel of the car. Powerslides are now controllable rather than me just
spinning out. It made all the difference in the world for me. I suspect many
people with control problems in GPL could drive reasonably well if they had this
setup and rock-solid high framerate. And of course, the graphics are drop dead
gorgeous at the higher res.
    All the best, Mike

Paul,
You should already know the answer to your second question. GPL will run at
1024 with single card so you'll be able to judge for yourself. As for SLI
benefits there are some at higher resolutions. On a similar system, I saw a
gain of 10-20% in frame rate, depending on circumstances. Worthwhile? Yes,
particularly as you already have the fastest available CPU. Be aware that
there have been some reports of GPL actually being slower with 2 Voodoo 2s.
There hasn't been any proper follow up by the posters so I don't know the
circumstances! I think that you can discount these without more information.
A final point; make sure that you have VSYNC disabled - it makes a very big
difference. If your control panel doesn't include this setting, there are

IMO, SLI didn't make that big a difference on my P2 400 system.  I can run
it in pretty much full detail at maximum res (taking away some mirror
detail) and all the cars, averaging about 15 fps at starts and quickly
moving to 36 as things spread out.  I could do about the same at 800x600.
The only way you'll find out for yourself if you think SLI improvement is
worth the cost is to buy it (somewhere that accepts returns) and try it.

I have a Micron PII 450 and Just bought the 2nd Monster II 12 megger
Now I run at 1024x768 with FULL detail including mirror
and slider all the way to right! In car at start of race
burried at 36 and never goes lower! With the single Vodoo II
it was around 26 at start to 33 in race.
Definatly is worth the upgrade......

If have a PII 400 MHz with Creative Voodoo2 can I put in any other Voodoo2 to
get SLI or does it have to be Creative?
