Bye,

False. GPL out of the retail box has support, in the form of rasterizers,
for 3Dfx's Glide API and Rendition's 3D API. In the form of an OpenGL beta
rasterizer thats downloadable from www.papy.com, the game also has support
for OpenGL too (however, there is no tech support for it, except perhaps on
this group...and none officially through Papyrus).
But to answer the original question, the Voodoo2 or if you can swing it
Voodoo3s appear to have less problems running the game than the TNT family
with the beta OpenGL rasterizer. However, from experience IF you can get
the OpenGL running the TNT 16 meg does run about the same as 1 Voodoo2 12meg
with the exception of the mirrors on the TNT which must be run slower due to
some OpenGL issues.
Remember also that a Voodoo2 is an add-on card, which means it can run
alongside your current 2D (or 2D/3D solution..however I don't know what
success or reason you'd want to run a Voodoo2 with a 3dfx VoodooRush,
Banshee or Voodoo3) card, where as the TNT16meg is a 2D/3D solution that
replaces your current 2D card.
Whoa, hold on there. GPL also supports OpenGL, and it kicks serious
***on my TNT2 - certainly better than the Voodoo2 I used before.
Which card to run GPL on depends upon other requirements - I prefer
the TNT2 because I really enjoy Quake3, but others may need the
Voodoo. GPL alone is not enough on which to judge the most suitable
card.
Cheers!
