In case you haven't ready this:
make sure you either run F1 2001 in a window (open config.ini and set
WINDOWMODE to 1) (also set your desktop size to the same resolution as
f1 2001 so you will get more or less full screen)
or if you want to run it full-screen, make sure you run fraps
(www.fraps.com) in the background. It's totally illogical, but running
fraps in the background gives a much better fps.

P3 866 GF2 here, f1 2001 runs perfect in 1024, with most details set
on max.

Thanks to the replies to a similar question a few days ago, I found loads of
previous drivers and other helpful info at www.guru3d.com

Hope this helps,

Rick.

Strange thing is: i cant get windowed mode. When i change it in ini
file it is automatically set to 0 when i want to run the game.

It seems to be different for different people.  For me, changing to 12.90

Fraps does nothing for me, but does for others. Strange isn't it?

You may want to consider downloading a small program I use called Launchmate
which can be downloaded from http://tdrware.virtualave.net/LaunchMate/

It is a toolbar utility that includes an option to change screen resolution
and colour depth when launching a program using it.  You may find this
useful when running F1 2001.

The colour depth of your desktop has to match the depth you're trying
to play the game in otherwise this will happen!

Strange is the correct word.. I must use fraps or windowed mode while
I'm using the 12.90 drivers to get the decent fps. Just to make sure,
fraps makes a difference when you run full screen, so with windowmode
on 0.
btw, switching from 12.41 to 12.90 caused me another problem, when I
choose properties on my desktop I don't get the Geforce tabs..
switching back to 12.41 brings them back again.. is it normal the
12.90 doesn't give a geforce settings tab?

Get the non-WHQL 12.90 drivers if you want the settings tabs. For some
reason they are not in the WHQL version of the 12.90 drivers.

12.90 drivers work fine under XP.
