just got F1 2001 today

It's ***y aweful at the moment. I think it's the Detonator drivers I'm
using (21.85). Anyone get it to work and if so which drivers?

System
P4/1.8Gh
Elsa Geforce 3

See dozens of other posts on this.  For me, 12.90s work best.

F1 2001 det drivers?

Well what can I say?
I've spent all evening trying a whole range of detonator drivers, from Elsa
original thro 12.90, 21.81, 21.83, 21.85

I don't know what the hype is about but this game does nothing for me.

Look at my system which beautifully and smoothly runs N4 and GPL at
1600x1200 with all the above drivers.

I think ***programming is behind all the graphic gliches, no mirrors with
any drivers (yes, I have tried turning mirrors on despite this should be on
by default). Most drivers produce disastrous graphic problems with F1 2001.
Only 12.90 runs but jerkily even at a lowely 1024x768 and still no mirrors
and tyre grooves constantly disapearing and sloppy graphic gliches during
running.

Gameplay when I got it going is very unreal. Like the wheel skid in bends
sound like rubbing a carpet. The dreadful AI which happily boots you off the
grey stuff. Catching a car in front on one piece of curcuit only for that
car to go into hyperdrive on another part. And as they get a few yards ahead
they dissapear. Weird?

I've got GP3, I don't play GP3 but it's better than this!

Knowing EA there won't be any real updates unless your gotta buy them.

No wonder it is so cheap (19.98)

Probably EB have had too many returns.

Thank God for Papyrus...

To be honest, you can't really give an informed opinion on the game till you
get the graphics problem sorted out.  Initially I felt the same as you, but
after gettting it to run properly, and understanding that the default setups
are VERY bad all the control issues and back end problems disappeared.

F1 2001 det drivers?

I've got an AMD Athlon 1.2 with Elsa Gladiac 920 GeForce 3. I find the game
runs very well at 1024 x768 with 12.90 drivers. I haven't tried any others
since I reformatted my HD. I do however get the game crashing back to
desktop quite often. Fraps 1.4 seems to help, Fraps 1.5 makes it worse.
Theres definitely some work to be done with the game to make it stable, but
IMO it's a blast while it's working
For example, I was in a race at Suzuka, I took the 130R behind Montoya, ran
a little wide from the loss of downforce, caught him on the run up to the
chicane then made a last minute dash for the inside, I got the corner, he
left room for me to go through and pulled in behind me for the run up the
start finish straight. (A bit of defensive positioning helped me keep my
position <G>) In all I have found the AI in this to be exemplary, sure they
make mistakes, but not of the kind you don't see every other Sunday on TV ;)
