rec.autos.simulators

For that brief period I am connected as I can see occaisional chat
messages from other players.

I've tried a full reinstall but to no avail. Everything else works fine
(I've tried ICQ, web, mail, news, FTP).

Help!

I had the same symptoms awhile ago. Turned out to be my virus software. I'd
changed one setting on my new computer. If the System Scan on my McAffee
virus software is set to "All Files" rather than "Program Files Only", I
couldn't join a race, with the same sequence as you are having.

I'd try disabling your virus software, and seeing if that helps. I've taken
to turning it off every time before running GPL, even though it seems to
work fine when set to "Program Files Only".
