GPL Converter/Rendition Question

GPL Converter/Rendition Question

With an opportunity now to drive GPL cars on Elkhart, Mid-America and so
forth, looks like I'm gonna finally have to break down and buy a
Rendion-based card.

Anyone care to recommend one?  Maybe a vendor for it, too?  Thanks, I'm
severely hardware impaired.

Regards,

Kurt

You don't need a Rendition card to use the CART/ICR2 tracks like Elkhart
Lake and Mid-Ohio in GPL.  You just need any version of CART or ICR2,
and David Noonan's GPL Track Converter.  The tracks, once converted to
GPL, will run in any GPL installation, including on Voodoo or TNT cards.

Click on Help, then Add-Ons, and look at the Tracks and 3D Kits
sections.

The only reason to buy a Rendition card would be to fill up a slot
in an older system.  You would really be limiting yourself for any
future programs.  Of course, having said that, we've been waiting two
years now just for another program to MATCH GPL let alone top it.

ps.  Allison,  I remember these kits, I seem to have had problems with
them not installing...probably I didn't follow the 'structions properly.
Track seekers might also check the the BBB track editing project.  They
upgraded many of the ICR2 tracks.  Probably a link to it from the Sim
Project or Sim ***world.

GPL Converter/Rendition Question

Agreed.  I just bought a Rendition Card, actually, to replace an S3 as
my primary to go with a Voodoo II.  The machine is slow by today's standards,
233mmx, and won't see any improvements for modern games.  That said, it is one
hell of a racing platform for ICR2, Nascar99, GP2, and SODA.

But agreed, with a newer system, the Rendition Cards are not a viable
option anymore.
