annoying, is it possible to have it utilize the entire screen and whats the
procedure?
Also, does the fullgame have a large speedometer (digital i hope) so you can
tell how fast you're going? The dashboard meters are unreadable.

Nope. You can get full width but not full height. 16/9 is what it is.
Nope. It's a ***, but we all deal with it.

DIGITAL? You heretic <g> AFAIK, most single seaters don't have speedometers
anyway. The instruments on the dash should be the tach' (largest) Oil
pressure, temp and fuel pressure.
DIGITAL though...<shakes head slowly>

Hmm... I've always wondered about that. I know that you're always going as
fast as possible, anyhow, but still... wouldn't it be useful to gauge
whether you're carrying the right speed through corners? AFAIK, modern F1
cars do have digital speed readouts, and drivers always mention the exact
speeds of corners when describing how they drive a lap, so do they perhaps
use their speedometers after all?
Nope. They didn't have digital dashes during the 1967 season.
Furthermore most race cars before 1990 didn't even have speedemeters..
You don't need one!

I have to say, you're probably in a minority about that. The letterbox
format is good in two ways: it gives you a more useful view (who cares
about what shape the clouds are in a game with no weather? but knowing
who's beside you is pretty handy); and secondly, the game is enough of
a CPU/gfx card hog already.
You *could* make it fill the screen by adjusting your monitor settings,
but the aspect ratio would be pretty weird.
Ah. One thing you'll have to get used to with GPL is that it is,
uncompromisingly, a *simulation* (as we sometimes point out at rather
too long a length...). As far as possible, if the 1967 car had
something, then so does the GPL car. And 1967 cars didn't have speedos
of any kind (in fact, I saw Thierry Boutsen's 1989 Williams recently,
and that didn't either).
You don't need the speedo - once you get used to the game you do things
by RPM, and a significant fraction of that is judged by ear (engine
note). When you're in the car (you *are* using the in-car view, I
hope), you have the same instruments as Clark, Hill or whoever. This is
part of what makes GPL so damn hard, but also part of what makes it so
satisfying when you get it right.

It might appear to help and yes it might allow you to "set in concrete"
a way around a track. However, in reality it would more than likely
hurt in the long run. '67 GP cars were not driven by instrument (ala
air planes), but by the seat of the pants. Once the driver got used to
the gear ratios put in the car, I doubt they even used the tach (they
used their ears). If you try to drive the car by instrument panel, you
won't learn what you really need to know to drive it to its limit and
beyond.

Between about 30 and 70 MPH I cannot tell at all how fast I'm going
just by looking. I have to judge max cornering speed by learning that
it's a slow 1st gear corner or a fast 2nd gear corner, etc.
