GPL CAN NOT ACCESS ANYTHING EXCEPT MULITPLAYER SCREEN

HELP!!!!!   I just got my cable modem on Friday and couldn't wait to start
racing at VROC and also downloaded Spy Boy . Somehow I have screwed up GPL in
changing files and adding things(like core.ini and the super patch) And I still
cant race online yet At VROC when I click on JOIN I am told that race is no
longer available. I try 5 and 6 times to refresh and reload and nothing
happens. And Spy Boy wont let me in either. I get as far as the remote server
starting my GPL and when I go to multiplayer screen The green button either
isn't there or does not work. Now I cant even race offlineas the green button
ONLY WORKS TO GET ME TO THE MULTIPLAYER SCREEN . Single race and Training are
not available. The green button is there but wont do anything. At this point I
am thinking about doing fresh installs of GPL and Spy Boy. Can anyone offer me
any other suggestions before I try re-installing? Thanks for your help.

I started getting a similar problem, lock-up on the Multiplayer screen.  None
of the buttons work.  It happens after I have run a race or two or have at
least tried to run a race.  Ctrl-alt-del and ending task for three windows will
get me back to Spy Boy and chat, but I will get the same lock-up if I try to
join a race until I reboot.  Just started happening today.
