So what kind of times are you all getting during practice?

So far 24:442 is my fastest lap, I've been practicing the last few nights.
What about you?

23.842 here, among about 4-5 23.8s in a row
But that was hotlapping, no way will I drive it that hard in a race.

23.918 was my fastest, but average lap times are mid 24's.

I've been doing pretty good. I wrecked the first half hour, got passed the
second, and then actually finished the 3rd race. I was feeling real good
about getting around the 35's. Now that TWhite had to put his numbers down,
I know that I need lots of work and tutoring. So, TWHITE, how about a
running tour of this track and some secrets?

and maybe a lap or two of replay footage showing your line around the track
on your fastest laps...

I can't post replays here for some reason, otherwise I'd be glad to.  But I assure you I do not want to go that fast with this setup
in a race.  It's all I can do to get to 70 laps before blowing a tire.

I will say this is about the crapiest Fast setup I've come across so far.  When the tires go, around lap 25-30, heck even if you
even think about using the gas pedal too soon you will bring it around on an exit.  Not sure this is what Papy had in mind when
trying to create 'something for everyone'.

Just curious, what do you define as "hotlapping" Do you run low fuel or
what? Is that alone in testing mode or with other cars on the track?

RASCAR, rockingham and the fast setup...

I am finding this problem with all setups, both the fixed fast and my
own.  The setups are great for about 10-15 laps and then go all to
hell.  The RF tire is simply gone.  All of the setups I create are
based on Bob Stanleys setups which usually have great tire wear, but
even his setups burn up the RF tire after about 15 laps.

I know papy had goodyear engineers helping them and I figured that it
would result in better tire wear not worse.  Last year in the actual
cup series there were quite a few races won buy guys that did not pit
and take on tires because they were finding that their times were not
dropping off that much.

I have not practiced the fixed fast setup at the rock yet but if you
say you are getting loose on exit my guess would be that you are push
loose????

Giving it one lap to settle in the tires, then running as hard as I can till the times drop off.
Testing mode, full fuel, whatever weather I need to test.
The only reason I really do that is to just see what the setup is capable of.
I always thought it was easier to slow down a setup than speed it up :)))

Thanks for the info, I was just curious. I got my new springs for my ACT
Labs Performance pedals today and I put them in an it's like I'm having to
learn to drive again! The springs had broken and I read on their forum that
some guys have been putting a tennis ball inside the pedal to substitute for
the springs, well I tried it while I waited for my new springs to get here
and ended up setting some fast times with it and now I have to go back to
the other, I really sucked with the tennis ball at first then I got used to
it, I will have to do the same again now!

RASCAR, rockingham and the fast setup...

What happens is when the right side tires go, meaning they are well yellow, but not close to going red, this setup will just spin
left when you gas it in the same spot you've been using the gas, even if you just feather the gas wrong.  It redefines the word
'touchy' :)

I don't mind the excessive tire wear in theory. I think it can be very realistic, especially for Rockingham.  But I worked on a
setup where I actually got the RR to wear quicker, and the same thing happens.  When the tires get worn on the right side, at least
at this track, the car becomes uncontrollable, very loose when gasing on exit.

I have an open setup I am working on, a modified one from Fast, that does a better job on worn tires than anything I've come across
so far.  It's not fast, just easy as hell to drive.  If I really take it easy early on, it can just make a full fuel run.

This is something new for Papyrus (imo) in having a setup being wickedly loose on worn tires rather than what you would think would
start to push.
