fantastic. But online racing (via VROC 2.0) is TOTALLY screwed on my
system. This is using a 1.1 installed over a GPL 1.0 with no
mods/upgrades.
My symptoms:
- HORRIBLE warping. I'm not talking about a second here or there. Cars
will warp in from nowhere, or out to the same place. I'm following
someone and they're just gone. The wierd thing is I check the replay
and they're still there, they didn't disappear - go figure.
- More WARPING nightmares: even sitting still cars will warp in and
out. At the starting line they warp. I can't even tell when the race
starts - suddenly cars will warp in 200 feet down the track, already
underway. Then warp back out again 5 seconds later. Or I can be
looking at a staionary car 2 feet away from me after an accident.
POOF, he's gone (not reset, just gone).
- Game/video stuttering. Every 20-25 seconds the game will pause for a
split second. The screen flashes, the force-feedback thumps, like
everything was held up for a second.
- this happens in any race, even with a ping of < 100
My system:
P2 300, 128 MB RAM, Voodoo2 12MB, cable modem
Online racing worked fine on this system with 1.0. I've tried using
both my original CORE.INI (nothing but "alternate_ip_addr_lookup = 1")
and the sample one included with 1.1. I've tried all the workarounds I
can find, including the old synch method:
[ Task ]
clock_adj_delay=12
synch_method = 0 ; Client synch method
Any ideas? I can't think of anything else to try.
