GPL Calibration question

by Sondo » Fri, 09 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Every time I fire GPL up I have to re-calibrate my steering wheel, it plays
fine but this is very annoying.  This does not happen on N2 or other games.
Any advise would be appreciated.  My system:

P II 400
128 mb ram
W98
T2
Monster II 12 mb

I have calibrated it the w98 joystick setup and it appears fine.  Full
install.
Thank you.

Does this happen with both DirectInput and Generic?

Do you have a controller set up and calibrated in the Windows joystick
control panel?

What type of wheel and soundcard (game controller) are you using.

I wish I could be of more help but when I had exactly the same problem
as you I fixed it by switching to direct input. This was with the demo
though.
Try re-installing the drivers that came with your wheel. That might fix
up direct input calibration.

Cheers!

No the Thrustmaster is the only one.  I have a Turtle Beach Extreme
soundcard that I plug the T2 into.  Thanks for the reply.

I went to the Turtle Beach website and downloaded their newest drivers as of
2 Oct 98 and I no longer have to re-calibrate every time.  Thanks a lot
guys.

Do you have a "real" TB Montego or the Dell OEM version?
I have the OEM version and I noticed on the Turtle Beach
website that they warn you not to use their drivers for
the Dell version.  They are probably just covering their
butts in case of problems, but I was wondering if you or
anyone else has tried these drivers on the Dell OEM Montego.

If yes, any problems?  Does it fix other things beside
joystick calibration, such as the engine distortion?

Thanks,

Dave Ewing
