As far as I know impossible - the data updates are too much for a slow
connection.  Perhaps Geoff plans it for GP4.

I've heard that using GPx, you can play online with GP3.  Haven't tried
myself, but others have said it works.

What he was saying is that while it is posable to connect to another
computer via the internet it is imposable to have a proper race because GP3
does nothing to compensate for the lag you get on even the best internet
connections.

How many would you like?

It's available at just about and GP3 add-on site.

http://www.alphaf1.com/gp3/
http://www.grandprix3.com/en/

And of course the author's site at:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~rsdi/gpxpatch.html

Methinks what 'works' and 'what works' are two different things.  Even
with this xpatch...can you race a full field of human drivers?  Head to Head
is fun for about two laps unless you actually find two very closely matched
drivers.
Ya know, I was playing F1 World Circuit modem to modem back....oh a long
time ago....and at the same time also playing Doom, first head to head, then
4 player over a special bbs network system.  Acpi or APci...can't remember
which...point is....here we are in the next FREAKIN' century...Doom 3 is
comming out...with tons of Multiplayer options that dwarf the
original....and what does GP3.5 have?  The SAME MP code from the days of
Donkey Kong. !!!!!

pity......

No doubt, I agree.  Apparently, seeing that GP3's major market base is in
Europe, the makers of GP3 don't think it's necessary to expend the funds to
develop good online play.  Either that, or else they don't know what they're
doing.

Please explain your logic here. GP3's lack of multiplayer capability
is because it's supposed to be sold to Europeans ? Doesn't Europeans
play online ?

Agree on the last sentece though. :)

I've always heard that the only reason is because of FIA licensing
restrictions. But that Microprose would turn a blind eye if the
internet capabilities became available.

Here in Australia Nascar is just about dead but lots of guys play N3 or N4
online, point being Papy has made it very easy to play on line & Nascar
online is great racing.
perhaps if papy bring out a F1 or a new indy/cart sim we will be able to
race that online just as well as nascar 3 & 4.
I tried GP2 modem to modem & it was a waste of time, to I guess GP3 would be
even worse.

I didn't say that Europeans never play online, but, possibly because of the
cost factor (cost per minute for users) online play is not as popular for
Europeans as it is for Americans.  In a general sense, I think this is true.
