SCGT and TM Ferrari Wheel Problem. Help Please!!

by MAD MA » Fri, 22 Mar 2002 08:06:05

Hi Group,

My problem is that my Guillemot TM Ferrari FF wheel will not work with SCGT
in Hardware mode anymore. As soon as it get's to approx 10-15 seconds into
loading ANY track, original or addon, it locks the PC. (As in reset button
job!!!). It used to work just fine a few months ago. I recently decided to
fire up one of my (still is) fav driving games, and now suddenly I have this
problem. It works 100% in Software mode. I have used the latest version of
DirectX Buster (4d), for removal of DirectX 8.1, and then I reinstalled 8.0a
to see if that would fix the problem. No luck there either, and in any case,
SCGT runs perfectly with anything DirectX 5.0 - DirectX 8.1, which I
currently use. The only way it will now work in hardware mode, is to make
sure the wheel is not switched on before starting, and making sure that
"enable controller" is un-checked in the control options menu. I can then
use the keyboard with no problems at all. I have tried all USB ports (4),
same result. I admit I have not tried the serial port connector yet, as USB
worked fine before, and this is always my preffered connection.

and a Hercules GeForce 2 MX 32MB GFX card. All this together with the
keyboard makes SCGT scream along with 24 cars on all tracks. (A little
slower on the superb Le-Mans I guess!), and now I have a capable system to
really enjoy this game, the darned wheel stops working! I admit this is my
new system and it worked 100% with the wheel on the old system. Intel

Other driving games work ok though, such as Grand Prix 3, Colin McRae rally
2 etc. So there is NO problem with the wheel itself, and the TM wheel is as
good as it ever was, although it has been gathering dust on the floor next
to me for 3-4 months while I play MSTS and Soldier of fortune and Medal of
Hono(u)r and other such delights.

Any help and/or suggestions please before I go nut's with this! I can't wait
to go screeeeeeeming around some of em' great tracks.........:-)

Please note that I HAVE tried the "holding the pedals down trick" while
loading, and it doesn't work for me.
