I have a PII 350 with a Viper 550 card with the OpenGL patch. In GPL 1.0 I
get 36 fps in training mode and when racing with nobody in sight. On the
grid I get about 20 fps with 8 AI cars. I have the mirror refresh thing set
appropriately.

I installed GPL 1.1 over a brand new full install of GPL (no patches other
than OpenGL). I get FF OK once I turn it on in the core.ini file. My frame
rate in Training mode is now 20. I have disabled the modem in a new h/w
profile, turned the modem search off in the ini file, rebooted in the new
profile and now I get 19 fps!

When I go online the frame rate is the same.

I have turned FF off and this makes no difference.

Has anyone out there had success with the OpenGL patch and GPL 1.1 ?

hmmmm, i have a p2-233 with the cl tnt card, 64mb ram.  I run in training mode
with everything,640X480, detail down to about 35%, and get about 36-37.  This
has stayed the same even after I hooked up a lwff wheel and pedal (serial
hookup).  From what i've read here each manufacturer's ff wheel has a different
effect on memory usage and framerate.  What's your wheel?  Also I have the 2.04
cl tnt drivers.  I use both the opengl and the 1.1 patch.  regards...Kirk

I have asus tnt card with detonator 1.09 reference drivers.

I run mip filtering 4 and mirrors 8 (you get used to it) and
get 36-37 fps with a few cars visible ahead vs. 19 AI.

This is with pretty much everything on and i'm using ffb
on a logitech usb wheel.

I had to disable my modem, and disable modem search
in core.ini but my OpenGL performance has been excellent.

Some people reported their frame rate was no longer capped after disabling
their PCI modem in Windows. May help for you as well.

If you used the core.ini.sample and renamed it to core.ini to enable
FF, make sure to remember to add all 6 lines and both headers from the
OpenGL patch's core.ini:

[ Int Profile Values ]
value0 = OpenGL:TossHighestMip:0                ; do not change
value1 = OpenGL:MipFiltering:0                  ; do not change
value2 = OpenGL:MirrorsEvery:0                  ; do not change

[ OpenGL ]
TossHighestMip = 0                              ;
MipFiltering = 4                                ;
MirrorsEvery = 8                                ;

Without the three Int Profile Values, the in-car framerate will likely
be no faster than 20fps no matter what resolution you use or how much
graphic detail you turn off.

Shutting down all programs seemed to solve my problems with low
framerates.  This includes cntl-alt-del shutdown of everything
shown there except for EXPLORER and SYSTRAY.

Keeping my fingers crossed this time,

Thanks Eric - frame rate problem solved - for some reason (brain fade?) I
had put in the [OpenGL] section but not the [Int Profile Values] - my fps
seems to have actually improved in race mode - now I can properly assess the
FF in 1.1 before I start tinkering with that!

Many thanks to all who responded to my problem
