Paul, why did you buy your TNT2 video card, knowing the situation
with GPL non-support, and the 'depression' you would have if it
didn't perform as you wished?
Just curious.

Because I saw both cards in action, and I was more impressed with the TNT2.
Plus the price! I could buy the Viper770 32mb for $319.00 or a V3 2000 with
16mb for $300.00. The 3dfx board prices in Australia are disgusting.
I honestly didn't think that I would have hassles running GPL. I knew there
was an openGL beta patch, which I thought would allow me to continue to play
GPL. And with 1.1 coming out, I figured that they would provide full support
for OpenGL or Direct3d. They put out a Beta patch so you would think that it
wouldn't remain beta forever.
Some people have no hassles running the game on TNT/TNT2 boards, but I'm not
having much luck. I've got a few ideas to try over the next few days so I'm
hopeing it'll work. The Nvidia 1.88 drivers definately gave me more
problems.
Have you heard any word on wether the 1.1 patch will have better support?

My advice: get a cheap Voodoo2 board from someone and throw it in.
That way you can run both D3D games with your new TNT2 and older
Glide-only games with the Voodoo2. The one good thing in V3 cards is
that they bring down the price of older V2s and Banshees.
I agree - with a PII350 (like mine) or something like it, a single V2 is
enough to get nice gfx and 36fps (except at the start, or when running 19
AI) in 800x600. You should be able to find V2's for under $100 now! :)
Ciaoooooo! ;)

Wow! a V3 2000 for $300.00!! Sorry to say but that is a "rip-off!"
buycom sells them for $94 US.. Sounds like pricing fixing to me in
Australia!? Bad new! Really bad!! How much do think the TNT2
Ultra will sell for down under.. $500+?? I feel this is bad business!

I suspect that there a several flavours of $ all over the World:
Canadian, Australian, Hongkong (?) and about 50+ others states ...

You're still being ripped off though. Even with UK tax at 17.5% we're only
paying 150ukp (about 225 USD) for a 3000...and that's a street price.
Maybe the antipodean V3's are supplied in a lead box or something, which
might account for the apparently vast shipping costs.

Buy.com have a great price on stuff. When you convert it to Australian
dollars, it ends up being heaps cheaper......
The catch is they don't ship international orders................and CUSTOMS
duty of 22%
