Really? I have a 1.4 AMD and it never drops below 36 unless I'm using FSAA
and really high resolution, like 1600x1200. Usually I run it in Glide with
2x FSAA at 1280x1024, all options on, full field and don't see a slowdown.

It's very true unfortunately.. Grant Reeve from papy, the guy who made
the d3d patch was on VROC 2 days ago and confirmed it:
GPL does -not- run on a P4 1.7.. and probably never will :(

Does anyone know *why* it does not work?
Is it just processor speed (i.e. it will not work on an Athlon above a
certain speed) or is it something inherent in the P4 architecture?

I personally have a 900 T-Bird running at 1050Mhz, and AMD doesn't
sell a 1050 either :-P

LOL Tony... My "piddly" Intel P3 800mhz has always kept a rock
solid 36fps except for the start & it never drops below 32fps! Not
even in the big starts with full' field and a lot of graphics at the start
but I feel it has more to do with my GF2'GTS'Pro & 256-megs of
PC133Dram combined. I want to upgrade to the 1ghz cpu but for
now I must wait for a few more pennies and I will keep everything
for quite some time after the upgrade... Cheers Thom_j.
