N4 Wheel help

by Gary » Thu, 26 Apr 2001 04:04:43

Last night about 20 laps in to a race a Daytona, N4 decided  it no
longer had any interest in recognizing my wheel.  Lost use of all
controls, wheel, pedals and all wheel buttons....  I'm still unable to
get N4 to recognize it, can't calibrate nothing happens.

Control panel in win98 still sees the device and the wheel  pedal combo
will still test properly through Wingman test software.

I usually launch N4 through the WinMan profiler... N4 icon double click
launch yields the same results....

Wheel is a WingMan Formula Force GP... any suggestion on where to start!

Will I delete all current setting within N4 by doing a reinstall of N4?

Thanks,
Gary

Gary, just delete controls.cfg in your Player/(your name)  directory.
If you are using the optimised drivers it won't see what you are using
in your widows setup. The Direct Input drivers will. I suggest trying
both because there is a difference in the way the car drives between
the two. You might also try switching between separate and combined
axis because that also effects the setup with some wheels.
If I recall the wingman wheel I have doesn't like the optimised drivers
but I use them with my ECCI.

Gary,
Are you using the "Optimized driver" in N4?  I had a similar problem
after a crash in another program with my T-master Nascar pro digital USB.
Once I switched to the "Direct driver" it recognized my wheel again and I
was as bad as where I left off!

Thanks to everyone that replied, the problem has been resolved.  I wish I could
explain why, but, as fast as it stopped working, it started working again....
