GP3 - Sidewinder Precission wheel USB problems

by Johnathan Cob » Tue, 01 Aug 2000 04:00:00

The hideous mess that is the GP3 contoller setup utility means I need to
remap 'Shift' and 'Spacebar' to the gear paddles on the wheel - this should
not be a problem but I do not appear to have a Profile Activator available
for this device

I have all MS devices (in a failed attempt to ensure compatability) - I have
an FF Pro joystick, a USB Pro pad and the USB wheel - as a result I have to
run both the version 3.0 and 4.0 SW Game controller software.  The profile
Activator is available for both the joystick and the pad - why not for the
wheel?

I may have a solution - fed up with the multiple redundancy of numerous CDs
containg the same software I threw away the CD that came with the Wheel (why
oh why - NEVER throw away MS stuff - it will come back to haunt you!) - on
the MS download sites all I can download is the controller software I
already have - am I missing something?  BTW the Wheel was a genuine
purchase - I am staring at the useless box as I type!

Any advice gratefully received.... I am trying to like GP3 but in contrast
to the easy playability of NFS Porsche 2000 this is a NIGHTMARE!!!

Have a look at this app
Controller Command Module at
http://www.simsystems.com.au
I have a Saitek FF wheel (which is based on the MS wheel) and have the same
problem with the paddles, but dont have the MS setup options.
Tried this app and has remapped the paddles to the keys.
