Asus A7N266-vm win XP, not detecting MS sidewinder (usb) wheel

I have a Asus A7N266-vm, running XP home.

The USB ports detect My scanner and camera, but will not detect the MS
Sidewinder racing wheel (says device not recognized), the wheel is
detected fine when I plug it into My win98 machine.

any idea's
