F1 2002 Freezes

I picled up F1 2002 tonight for 14.99 from the local PC world.

It installed OK and I can work thru the menus, however every time I
try to start the 'driving school' I get about 3 seconds of 'action'
and then the whole screen freezes, but I can still hear the engine
sounds.

I've got the latest drivers for my SB Live! 5.1 card,

I've tried the 30.82, 41.09 and 42.86 Nvidia drivers for my MSI
Geforce 4 Ti4200 128M x4 AGP card. Also have played around with the
soundcard's hardware acceleration properties in DxDiag

All antivirus & firewalls disabled.

But no luck ,the bl*&dy thing just keeps*** at the same point.

My System is the above cards on a Soltek SL-75FRV with Athlon XP2200+
512MB of Crucial PC2100 RAM running XP Pro, 1024MB Virtual Memory.

I'm pulling my hair out on this (and there ain't too much left to
spare!)

Anybody else has a similar problems ?

Cheers

what version of directX do you have? When you first installed the sim,
did the 3dconfig program work ok?  Have you tried skipping the tests and
running a quick race first?(just to verify that part works)
Did you do a full install?  Have you tried a nocd to bypass any
copyprotection?  Does your motherboard have built in sound?  You might have
to make sure it's disabled in the bios.

dave henrie  see there's lots more stuff to check!  :)

Yup.

I found that even a mild overclock of my gfx card that wouldnt cause any
other problems - would make F12k2 dump to desktop
