GPL with Joystick?

Been thinking about getting GPL soon... but i don't have a PC steering wheel
of any kind.... would it still be playable with a joystick?
Are there any GPL players out there using joystick?

Thanks

Yes. It is probably easier with a joystick although it does not feel so
good.
Buy it !

Some of the fastest drivers in the world use a joystick. But get a wheel...

hi , i don't know what your budget is to spent on this game but try an cheap
wheel first and if you can borrow a joystick from a friend , there is always
someone who has a joystick .
than say for yourself what you want .

GPL with Joystick?

The problem with a joystick is that it is har to accelerate AND brake at the same time.

For example when you are accelerating out from a corner and you see that you are going to understeer out of the track, just keep your accelerator flat and give a SLIGHT (I repeat SLIGHT) kick on the brake, it helps by putting the weight down and getting more grip so you make your corner exit all right...

Besides that BUY THE GAME IT'S SO F....G GREAT, try it with a stick and when you can't wait anymore buy a wheel....

Aah, that old chestnut!  Sure you can play GPL with a joystick and be
quick enough to compete.  However, if its a question of you just want
some cheapo stick to try GPL out with, then chances are that you are not
going to get the best out of this game.  You really need to spend cash
on a decent controller (my latest stick cost 40UKP).  So, if you can
afford it and have got the space to set it up then a wheel would
probably be a better bet.

Don't worry, Chris, GPL is fully playable with a joystick. My
experience.

But if you have a stick with a throttle lever (MS Sidewinder Pro in my
case) you use that as a brake.  Gives you the ability to accelerate
(stick forward) and brake at the same time

That sounds so difficult. What sort of times - according to how much
you practice of course- are you getting?
I have tried a number of different joysticks in GPL but gave up, now I
fear its too late for me to reverse to it, but it would be nice not to
have to mount the wheel...

GPL with Joystick?

I am using a Microsoft Precision Pro stick with GPL.  I use the buttons for
gas/brake and have managed to do a 1:31.21 at Monza after a couple of
months practice.  I am sure there is plenty more time to come off as I tend
to round most corners without really knowing what I am doing.  I also put a
heavy book on my lap and put the joystick on that for stability, that was
worth a second by itself.
