GPL Generic Joystick & Windows 2000?

by jame » Wed, 18 Jul 2001 04:22:07

I've just reinstalled GPL 1.2 after along time away from the game.  I seem
to remember that last time I had it installed I had overcome the difficulty
of playing the game with my Thrustmaster T2 using the Generic joystick under
Windows2000.  However, when I attach the joystick and select Generic it says
that I can't use Generic under Windows NT.  Is there a workaround or fix for
this 'cos Windows2000 has more functionality for input devices than NT (more
like Windows9x).

I hope that a dual boot 98/2000 isn't required 'cos I've got NTFS installed.

James

P.S.  What happened to all the GPL sites.  Lots of my Favorites don't work
anymore for the classic GPL sites.  The only I found working was the US
Pits.  GPLEA, Alisons site, etc. have all disappeared or moved to a hidden
URL.

GPL Generic Joystick & Windows 2000?

GPL's generic driver does not support WinNT/2K/XP. Yes, Win2K does have
similar support for controllers to Win9x, but only using DirectInput (ie.
DirectX).

I don't own a T2, but I know Thrustmaster have Win2K drivers available for
download. You should be able to get GPL going with these drivers using
DirectInput.

Most of the sites are probably still around, but probably changed URL's. Try
the Ultimate GPL Linkspage :-
