GPL: Windows 2000 & Geforce drivers

by Mika Takal » Tue, 13 Mar 2001 00:37:54

I used to run Detonator 6.30 drivers with w2k. They worked fine for GPL with
d3d patch (vsync=off). After I reinstalled my system, I installed Detonator
6.50 drivers, and now I get bad clipping in GPL (vsync=off) or 25-30fps
framerate (vsync=on).

I don't want to install 6.30 drivers back anymore, because Nascar 4 needs
opengl-performance, and opengl seems to be better in 6.50.

Has anyone had the same problem with GPL and what drivers should I install
to make things fly again? :)

I'm using the detonator 6.50 (the fastest and most compatable so far)
drivers on my win2k sysytem witha PIII and Geforce DDR and GPL looks and
runs great. You shouldn't really need Vsync off except for benchmarking and
it shouldn't really make such a big difference.

Without more info on your setup i can't really give you an aswera part from
the fatc that the 6.50's should be slightly quicker than 6.30's.

I've tried 7.52's which are pretty quick and run fine in games but I had a
mouse cursor duplication problem so I went back to 6.50.

The 7.52's are ment to be by far the best win2k drivers but they don't
suport coolbits. To use coolbits with them after you install them just drop
the nvcpl.dll file from any other 6.xx driver that suports coolbits into
your \WINNT\system32 folder.

you can d/l them here: http://www.reactorcritical.com/
