F1 2001 - major fault!

F1 2001 - major fault!

1)  Major fault in the AI times.  In qualifying they are way too slow.

Typical examples:
Track(actual 2001/F1 2001 pole, difference to last place real/F1 2001) - in
seconds obviously!
Australia (1:27/1:33, 6/11)
Malaysia (1:35/1:42, 5,13)
Brazil (1:14/1:18, 5/13)
Spain (1:18/1:23, 4/10)
Italy (1:22/1:28, 5/11).

This has the effect of making it very easy to get on pole with an average
time!  Also, if the 7% rule was implemented in F1 2001, then at least half
the cars wouldn't qualify each time!

These times were taken with the AI set to 100%, setting it to the max (120%)
improves things by about a second, but the overall picture is the same.

The weird thing is that the times on a test day are much closer to the real
2001 ones.  This has to be sorted in the patch.

2)  Another major gripe is that there doesn't appear to be any way of
'accelerating time' in qualifying, nor is there any way of setting the
length of session.  What that means is that you have no way of avoiding
sitting in front of your screen for an hour to see if you need to go out
again!  It's either that or accepting one of your times, and hoping that
no-one beats it as you hit the 'finish session' button!  Maybe I'm missing
something - I hope so!

I didn't try it but are you sure you are not set with teh AI at the "rookie"
level or something like that ?

Hit control + T. This will accelerate the time. Do it again to stop the
acceleration.

Well done!  Where did you get that from?  Nothing about it in the manual!
In fact that has solved the other problem in my post as well.  It would seem
that if you sit and watch the times (with ctrl-t) rather than 'finishing' a
session, then the times put in by the AI are very close to the actual times
with a correct spread as well.
So, well done - you've solved both my problems in one!
