I've tried an 'auto install', but it didn't work so I've tried manual
install and everything works except the sound which I have none for the cars
at all. Skids and shifting sounds work ok, but no cars.
Any ideas?

First have you tried the updated installer? It is available at :
http://www30.brinkster.com/imola/19dodge.html
just unzip that .exe file into the folder where your installer was
temporarily saved{i.e. where you unzipped the installer.}
Or the other solution is to use window explorer, and look in the same
folder where the installer was first unzipped. Inside is a folder called
installer\files\sounds just copy EVERYTHING inside that sounds folder to
your F12001\sounds\car\ folder.
at the website above is one small file to replace a faulty version in the
installer AND make SURE you do not use the season 2001 starting grid option.
Choose a starting position manually.

I've rebooted, checked all the files and folders for problems, but the
engine sounds refuse to work in the game. As great as the soundfx sounds
are, it's impossible to enjoy driving without my ears bleeding to the tune
of a good old 'V' spec engine! :O(
I really want these sounds to work - please, any other ideas?
Cheers,

I know that it's reported to be working, which is why I want it working
on my PC. I got the latest update from this website, but still no joy,
all files in the right places, all config files pointing to the correct
places, but no engine roar ... lots road noise, wind noise, rumble
strips, grass/gravel sounds, skidding and even the music, but no engines.
I've tried relocating to other directories and changing the lines in the
'INI' file, but still no joy ... it's almost as if the game is looking
for the wrong file names for this cars, but I know this is untrue as they
work beautifully if I put the cars into the FIA mod? Very weird ...
Oh well, thanks for the cars ... I'll figure out some other way of just
racing the LeMans cars because they really are extremely well done, love
'em! :O)

There is a thread or two about this on the message base at the LeMans
site. I forget which file it was, but some users had sucess by copying the
f1car.sound or some such file. Check out the bug threads at the main site.
It might have something. And they have re-released the initial full install
with the current bug fixes and one extra car.

I Just installed it using the latest installer and . . . no car engine
sounds.
The engine sound files are in the right directory and the .ini file is
pointing to the right sound dir.
The rest of the mod works fine and the sounds are still working in all the
other mods and the original F1_200 game.
Has anyone got this to problem***ed yet ?

The cars are drop dead gorgeous !!!
