F1 2001 Page fault?

by Rod11101 » Wed, 24 Oct 2001 02:22:13

Every time I try to race, on the 7th lap, no matter what track I am at, the
screen goes black and I get the "This program has performed an illegal function
and will be shut down" Under details, I get:

F1 2001 caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0177:bff7b9f2.

Is this a RAM problem?  I have 192Mb, but I have always been suspicious of the
64Mb that came with the computer, and therefore added another 128Mb. I've
gotten this message while using AOL both before and after adding the 128Mb.
I'm tempted to get another 128Mb to replace that pesky 64.

Thanks

Sounds like you might have solved it yourself.  I can suggest a couple
things:

1. Try to disable replays within F1-2001.
2. Try to remove the 64mb simm.

Jason.

Try it without EAX sound enabled. If that fixes it look into updated sound
card drivers.  I am assuming that you have an EAX capable sound card since I
see the EAX in one of your errors.

The "EAX" in question here is a CPU register name, not a reference to the
EAX sound API. :)

But the advise still holds.  Sound and Video drivers are among the few
programs that can crash the NT kernel, and so updated drivers can often
fix these problems.  Disabling EAX, A3D, OpenGL, DirectX, and other
driver APIs can often bypass the bug making the crash.

I agree with the first replies...try this tho...TAKE OUT the dodgy memory.
Run it with just 128megs.  If that 64mb part is bad, you should see better
results immeadiately.

Hi, thanks for your response first of all. I did remove the "bad" 64 Mb Simm,
and on the 7th lap, the screen STILL blacks out for about 20 seconds and then
comes back. I've turned off Replays too, and still have the problem.  Do I have
my graphics set too hi?

Sorry that was my only clue.  You'll need somebody who has a Radeon and an
older system.  Good luck.(What are the minimum specs btw for F1 2001?)
