So, I did back-to-back laps of the Nrburgring last night that were
within .1s of each other.  What do I win?

That depends on your lap time<g>.

Hey that's spooky. (OK my times aren't great) but his morning I did a
8.55:84 followed by a 8.55:83! They both had a spin at different places.
I was telling my mate how spooky that was, even more than Shumi and
Barri in Oz being .001 sec between them, but that it happened to you
within 24 hours is a weird conincidence!

It would be even more weird if your lap times were the same and in a

You win the right (no the duty) to repeat the deed ;)

Well, it was in a Ferrari, but the times were 8:36.94 and 8:37.03 (ok,
so my times aren't extraordinary either!).  Both laps were spin-free,
but both had a few little errors (in different places).  The differences
came out in the wash I guess, though.  :)

The frustrating thing is that both of these laps are just about .5s off
my PB, and replay analyzer shows that I was a couple seconds ahead of
my PB lap at least half-way around on both laps.  Alas, I can't quite
keep up that pace totally error-free, and I always lose a bit of time
in the second half of the lap.  It's a concentration thing, really--
my mind always starts to wander in the last third of the lap, and I
bobble the car somewhere and ruin the lap.

Ok, ok, wise guy.  :)  Right around 8:37, which I know doesn't usually
win any prizes.  I was reasonably pleased though, to do it twice in a row.

Hey! I misread your first post.. so what prize do I get for being .01

I actually find the last third of the lap I start to concentrate more
apart from my mind wandering about ruining all the good work you've done
by getting there. There's nothing worse than losing it in the chicane at
the end of the straight before the stadium section... especially if you
think it's been a good lap!

The ring is truely a magnificant track, well worth the cost of GPL on
it's own!

Apart from the natsy Hobitses!

Cheers,

Andy

Recently I was on a real flyer at the Ring, which I ruined on the last
chicane - checked it out in GPL Replay Analyser, and discovered I was FOUR
SECONDS ahead of my PB until that point!

Since then I've had a whole series of laps at 8:15-8:17, but have never
beaten it.

How annoying is that?

Spooky is also when you do two xx.666 laps in a row in Nascar Racing 3 ;-)

I wrecked after that!

I hear you. I have the same problem here.. when I drive 'safe' I do
8:15 laps, when I push it, I can do 8:05-8:10 laps, but I -allways-
***up at a corner spoiling my lap. Those 8:45 laps of the aliens
are TRULY amazing..

I've done that too, on consecutive laps.  I *think* my times were EXACT,
though.  I really didn't think it was possible to do...

I *distinctly* recall when you couldn't break 8:50.  Hope you're still
working at it !
