I',m interested to find out how much the frame-rate is improved in CART with
a voodoo 2 card compared with a 3dfx. So whoevers first to get one - let the
rest of us know!

P.S Check out Toms Hardware guide for his review of a pre-release of
Diamonds Voodoo 2 card (has performance results for Quake).

Is CPR 3dfx supported?, cuz if it isn't, voodoo2 wont do anything for it.

Are you serious ?

I can't believe that.  Is there a URL you can give me that will confirm
this.

Regards

Andrew

You should probably research before you answer! D3D is supported with the
V2 and so is Glide and openGL. I have pre-ordered a 12meg Creative Labs card
and I will be doing some reviews of CPR,F1RS and Toca on my P200/32meg/12mg-V2
system when I get the card this week.

I also talked with Gary Torolli from 3dfx about Voodoo2 and D3D and what
sort of improvements we'll see as compared to the Voodoo1 and he said to expect
anywhere from a 30-45% improvement depending on your system.

I didn't answer, I asked. The question mark at the end means I'm asking
a question, not giving an answer. "NUKE" suggested that the Voodoo2
won't do a thing for CPR. I then asked: "Voodoo2 won't run Direct3D
titles?" Note the question mark, here and in my earlier post.

I've received a bunch of emails on this, asking where I heard that the
Voodoo2 won't run D3D. I never did hear such a thing. As far as I know
the Voodoo2 will be one of the best D3D platforms. All I did was ask.

Amazing how people could have read your post and come to that
conclusion. Sheesh! I think they need better comprehension skills
or something.

30% to 45%?  So does that mean that if i get 30fps right now on my
233mhz overclocked to 292mhz, that i will only get 9fps more!!!

That's hardly worth buying the Voodoo2 then!

If you look at Toms Hardware benchmark of Diamonds Voodoo 2, you'll see that
it also improves Direct3D  as well.

My Orchid Righteous 3D does click in on CPR, but I don't think the game gets
the maximum out of it.

Geez, can't this NG read anymore?!?!? The guy said 30-45%
IMPROVEMENT!! You'll get around 40-50fps, if the percentage
above is correct ...

This is really funny ... how come so many people missed the question
mark in Trips' posts?!?!?

I've been trying out the Creative 12mb Voodoo 2 on CART with a K6-200.
I get 40 frames per sec on the back stretch at Milwaukee (during
testing) where there is little scenery and as low as 26-27 on the
front stretch.  This is with the patched version with graphics on full
except the dashboard is off.

On the unpatched version I get up to 33 on the back stretch and 17 on
the front stretch.
