Voodoo vs Voodoo Rush...

A friend of mine cautioned me against getting a Voodoo Rush based
card and suggested I stick with simply a Voodoo based card, like the
Monster 3D.
I'd really like to get something like Intergraph's 'Intense 3D
Voodoo' ( http://www.racesimcentral.net/) with its 2D/3D TV
OUT features. But it uses the new Voodoo Rush chipset so I wonder
whether I'd regret getting one. Anyone care to comment?

Thanks in advance,

J Burrowes

STAY AWAY FROM THE RUSH!

I own a Stingray 128/3D based on the VRush chipset from 3DFX and it has
serious flaws with numerous games in particular games utilizing z-buffer
and alpha-blending at the same time.  2D performance is good when it
works, there are still bugs that need to be fixed.  3D performance is
good as long the program doesn't use z-buffer and alpha-blending at the
same time (GLQuake does as does and runs ~50% slower than a VGraphics
card).

If you want to read more about the problems owners of the Stingray 3D
are having go to

Voodoo vs Voodoo Rush...

If you want to run games liek QUAKE, then the Rush is about 30% slower
than the Monster 3D and other Voodoo Graphics cards.

Monster 3D = 29fps
Rush         = 20.1fps

But for games like Moto Racer, and F1 by Psygnosis, the Rush card
performs very well.

If you can afford it, go for a Monster 3D, but only if you have a
decent 2D card.

if you want good performance from both, go for a Rush.
Either the Adrenaline 3D or the Intergraphs card.

Check out  www.rush.allgames.com   where they compare all 3 current
Rush cards before you make a decision.
