GPL...most exciting corner?

Hello.

Just got back from the Cleveland race (CART).  Congrats to Montoya<sp>!!!

While listening to the announcer, he mentioned that the first turn at the
Cleveland track is probably the most exciting and hair hair-raising corner in
this years CART season.  And after seeing cars going four abreats to the first
turn, I can see why!

I've only had GPL for about 2 months now, and the only tracks that I have been
racing at were Monza, Silverstone, and Watkins Glen.  I was wondering , in your
opinion what would be the most hair-raising corner during the start of the
race?  Just curious.  Thanks!

The corner of my eye, when I'm starting to play and it spots my old
lady coming to tell me some bullshit I couldn't care less about.
Hair-rasing doesn't begin to describe it. The only time I don't have a
problem with that corner is when she's at work.

Eau Rouge on Spa it QUITE scary...
and the corner after the long straight on Spa, where the houses are on
both sides....

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night, all sweaty, realizing
that I just had another nightmare about these corners...

Eau Rouge is up there for sure, as well as that little right-hand bend at
Rouen -- downhill, narrow track, fairly high-speed (for turn one of a race),
no runoff area on either side, and close enough to the start that people are
still two-a***. Haven't tried it online, but it gets pretty hairy racing
the AI with a full field!

Why is it they think we give a rats ass about what they're wearing when we're in an
8 lap online race at Spa and quickly approaching the Masta kink?!?

Aaargghhh!

I'll probably be in the minority here, but my vote goes to the first turn at
Kyalami. Very easy to have a mess there at the start.

Amen to that brother, there I am, in a tense online race with my league and my wife
or daughter wanders in ...

But to answer the question, I really like Spa myself. In my case the worst is the
kink at Monaco, do it right and it just flows, do it wrong and you're minus a wheel
and the difference is so small. I tense up everytime I clear the tunnel there. I
hate Monaco so bad I've taken to calling it Monica 'cause it just ... well you get
the idea :-)

Thanks, I hadn't watched the race yet (taped).  Glad to have an unmarked
spoiler pop-up in a completely non-related post.
Arrrggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta agree with Marc, you got me to.  I hate it when I hear who wins
a race I have taped.  Some of us work on Sundays and have to tape the
race.  I know you didn't mean to do this on purpose, but please think
of us next time and gives us the spoiler heads up.

thanks,
Randy

My vote is the Masta kink at Spa. Eau Rouge is tough, but the Masta is
SCARY!

the hairpin at Rouen.

Many people say Eau Rouge but that turn is just fun.  tap the brakes, slide
it out all the way to the hill and turn right into the turn waiting for the
hill to get your back end out just in time to miss the incline and then
slide out to the edge of the track on the right.  I think the hairpin at
Rouen is worse since you must go soooo slow and brake while turning.  I
would also have to vote for the turn after the REAL long straight at
Nurburg.  I have stuffed it in the bushes many times there.  Turn 2 at
mosport is also hair raising as you slide towards the edge hoping not to
drop off a wheel and go straight into the fence.  Hmm I think all tracks
have one of those turns.  On a final vote I would say Mexico, uhh the track
hehe.  Well turn 1 is difficult but all the S's are difficult to string
together.

Nurburgring:
- Coming from Hatzenbach, over the bridge, going uphill towards Flugplatz: the car
gets light, a jump and at that same moment you have to break and start turning
right for that fast double right hander...
- The fast left hander before Metzgesfeld because it's difficult to see the corner
and to find a good break point
- ... and - believe it or not -  but also that stupid first left hander after the
start-finish straight... it's so difficult to find the right breaking point...

Francorchamps:
From the second section of Burnenville where that corner gets more tight and you
have to prepare to take the Malmedy complex as fast as possible because you don't
want to lose to much speed for the the straight that follows and goes towards the
horrible Masta kink...

Monaco:
The whole section that starts when you come out the tunnel, take the chicane, the
left hander at the Bureau de Tabac and the hairpin before the start-finish straight

Rouen:
The hairpin: difficult breaking because you still are in that fast left corner

There are several other corners on other tracks which are difficult but you can
afford te make a little mistake in them without ending up in a fence or a barrier.
In the corners I mentioned in the text above, an error is almost always fatal! In
the best case, you end up with a broken suspension or a puncture...
