New Laptop.. Need GPL help

by J. Todd Wass » Sat, 02 Aug 2003 09:12:56

The new P4 2.66Ghz laptop is here and running great.  Does anyone have the
patches and so forth to get GPL running on it?  I know there was one for 1Ghz+
systems that was required....

Thanks!

I sometimes think that people who ask the simplest questions are the
ones who need the most help.

Or maybe they're the only questions I'm capable of answering? ;-)

LOL,

But I usually read questions like the above, and go "Jesus, he cant even
check with the software vender or google or even yahoo?  What will he do if
he has to edit the .ini file?"  and so I wont open that can of worms...  I
mean there is a lot of info he could use, like that there are hundreds of
tracks, new cars & textures to be found, but he cant even do a google
search?

I wish him good luck adding anything to that game...  Sheesh!  LOL

Here are 2 good sites for GPL but don't ask me, Im not holding your hand
through it, as I could slip and drag both of us off that cliff   :P

http://magnust.d2g.com/  Tracks out the wazoo!

http://gplpp.com/index.htm   not the best site?  but good starter with links
to other sites and add-ons and, and...  (I think its great, But YMMV)

Plowboy...

The reason I asked is because someone else did so recently and was flooded with
links.  I was hoping for similar treatment since I didn't save that thread, but
I guess "gosh, you must be stupid, here ya go" comments work too ;-)

Last I heard was the 1+GHz patch was written by a Papy guy independently and
wasn't available at their site.  That was a long time ago, I guess.  I thought
I'd save myself some trouble in case that wasn't all that was necessary to get
things running on the new system.

I stand corrected :-)

Saw that one already, thanks though!

Ah, ok.  Sorry for overreacting, it was tough to hear your tone of voice on the
PC :-D

Thanks a lot for the links though!  Everything is working great.  GPL is MUCH
easier to drive at higher resolution and 3x the frame rate.  It only took about
one hour to get a new PB at Zandvoort (my new favorite after visiting the real
track a couple months ago ;-))

1:27:47 :-)  Got a few seconds to go yet before breaking any records!  lol

Thanks again, Plowboy.

Higher resolution?  What were you running at, and what are you running now?
I'm at 1024x768, but my system won't let me crank the graphics any...

PS - Plug computer into mains, turn on. Same for Monitor (the small TV
thing) On the front of your computer you should find a button marked
"POWER". Push it! Same for Monitor (yep, that small TV thingy again). Now,
