How is GPL performance on laptops?
Id like a Sony PCG 731or 735. These are
Pentium 200 mmx machines. Is anyone
getting acceptable gameplay?

Still, you will be able to run GPL in "software mode" but don't expect more
than 10fps with ALL graphics off. Yes that "off".

But if you have a platform for your laptop you could add a 3d accelerator in
it and I think now you would be able to run GPL in full detail at over
30fps.
