GPL OK with laptops?

I am thinking about one of the Sony VAIO 300mhz laptop
computers. Will GPL be playable on it? I know it likes 3dfx.
Any PMCIA 3D cards that will work?

Laptops inherently aren't good *** machines because the LCD display
isn't all that great for the fast 3D graphics that most games use.
Most laptops also use cheap chipset for their graphics and/or do not
include any 3D support.  Probably the laptop best suited for ***
would be the Dell Inspiron 7000, which uses an ATI Rage Pro AGP
chipset, which I believe has some sort of Glide/OpenGL support, and a
14.1" or 15" display.

If its the ATI Rage Pro then it will have Direct3D and OpenGL support.  No
other chipset besides the Voodoo/Banshee lines have Glide support.

And I don't think the Rage Pro even has OpenGL support. My friend has
that exact machine and it simply won't run anything in OGL. Maybe he's
doing it wrong, but I think those cards don't support it.

It has OpenGL if you buy GLDirect from SicTech. See the specs
http://www.scitechsoft.com/gld_hrdw.html

Just be sure that the Dell has at least 4 Mb on the video card. After that
you will need the OpenGL patch from Papyrus.

Nice racing,

I've been looking forward to the day when flat LCD's around 19" become
reasonable.  You don't think that will be good for ***?

OpenGL ICD for the Rage Pro is downloadable from ATI at:
