TOCA affecting screen refresh rate.

by Gary Lightfoo » Sun, 19 Apr 1998 04:00:00

I've have had TOCA on my machine for a while now (DirectX install),
and everything was fine.

I just recently installed a CL V2 card and the voodoo versions of the
games I have (including TOCA), and the game is ok (apart from the
steering pulls to the left...), but now, when I quit the game, it
causes my desktop to display in 60hz (it's 800x600 and normaly 85hz).
This causes the picture to be reduced and have a black border.

To get it back to normal, I have to go to properties/monitors and
select/apply the Win95 monitor driver (It's normaly custom mga), then
I can re-select my custom mga driver and the refresh rate is back to
normal, and the screen fills the monitor again as it should. This is
the only Voodoo game that causes this.

My 2D card is a Mystique, and it's this that is being affected by the
looks of it.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

TOCA affecting screen refresh rate.

I have had this problem for some time now and I only recently put in a
Orchid Righteous in my machine. I have a S3 968 2D card. I would also like
to know what's going on and how to fix it. With me the screen refresh
changes every time I go into a Full-Screen DOS window and out again.

A quick way for me to fix it is using the Display changer icon on taskbar
(comes with Win95 OSR2) (or Quickres from Power Toys I guess) to change
from 1024x768 high colour to 1024x768, 256 colour and back again.
Annoying...
