IndycarRacer on 386/40 ?

by Joao Sil » Sun, 09 Jan 1994 09:00:55

Hi all,

I have been considering purchasing ICR since its release, but I am
afraid that I will be disappointed with the frame rate on my 386/40
since I am used to playing World Circuit F1GP.

I would like to hear from some people that are running in a similar
setup whether it is worth purchasing or whether I should save the
money towards a motherboard upgrade :)

I would appreciate any responses,
Thanks in advance.

I am running it an a 386/40 with a ET4000 video card.  I have a lot of
the details turned down and it runs pretty good.  I will always turn down
detail in return for better game play, so that gives you an idea where
I'm coming from.  BTW, I have maximum number of cars turned on.

Well, I am running IndyCar on 386/33 w/ 4 Megs and the frame rate
is very decent. I switch off all the details except tyre texture,
horizon and smoke/dirt. On ovals I can put some trackside objects
on. When I'm racing I use similar setup and 15 opponents. The frame rate
drops a little but is still very playable. I recommend the game
strongly! What a great game!

BTW, has anyone done sub 65 secs lap on Portland and if so,
what kind of setup are you using? My best so far is 1:05,512
using ACE setup + some modifications on gearratios and some
more wing up front.

Anyway, all of you doubt: buy the game!

Happy New Year
