MS wheel + GPL = Non Linear ?

by Incubu » Fri, 07 Jul 2000 04:00:00

I just got the MS Racing Pro NON FF wheel. I've found that when I play GPL
I'm able to control the car better by setting the properties (in the game
itself) all the way over to non-linear instead of linear, which is where I
used to have it when I was using a joystick. I thought before hand, that the
linear setting would be best, but it's still too sensitive. This is on the
Monza track with the steering angle set to 7 to 1.

Do you guys have it set like I have at the moment or do I just suck
incredibly ?

My best time so far is a 1:34:xx which equals what I used to get with my
joystick, but I'm slowly bringing it down because now at least I can control
the throttle and braking as well.

You may do better if you change your steering ratio.  7:1 is a
very small ratio in my experience.  I use an Act Labs Force RS
wheel and have the linearity slider set to fully linear (all the
way to the left) and use a steering ratio of between 15:1 to
17:1 depending on the track.  Anything lower than 15:1 reduces
my ability to correct the inevitable mistakes I make.

Cheers

7-1 is your problem buddy.

There is nowhere at Monza that needs anywhere near that amount of lock. My
own setup is based on a ratio of 18-1
