Very true. I always drive with all aids turned off anyway, but
unfortunately couldn't get myself to shell out the $$$ for a wheel
(yet), and with a joystick F1RS is *real* hard. After being used to
GP1, I thought GP2 was hard when it came out, but I just went back
to it for fun the other day, and it was so much easier than F1RS I
couldn't believe it. It felt like I was driving a much lighter car
with wider tires by comparison. (Which made me remember that I thought
F1RS felt like driving a bus at first.)

[...]

I feel much the same way, but I not only find it harder to drive,
but also much harder to find a good set-up. I wish the same set-up
strategies that worked with GP2 would work in F1RS, so it wouldn't
be such a big re-adjustment.

Also, you *do* need the right hardware for F1RS (FAPP, Voodoo
mandatory). Of course, ironically, now that F1RS is out, and GPL
is due out shortly, I finally have the right hardware to run GP2
properly... ;-)

Come on guys, game - yes, simulator - never. (If you don't believe me, get
down to your local racing school and drive a single seater!)

It's the best F1 simulator possible on a currently available PC system.

I'm surprised, that you're surprised, that there is a BIG difference
between
this simulator and driving a real car. Wow!

A D3D card seems to do the job quite good too, but the sounds are lousy with
any card in F1RS.

Sound is not an issue with F1RS. Ditch the stock sounds and download one or
more from the many sites dedicated to this excellent bit of software.
