3Dfx vs. Rendition

I currently have a P200 pentium with 64mb of EDO/Ram and an ATI Turbo
Pro graphics card. I'm in the process of upgrading my video card but I
am uncertain which card would give me the optimal performance for the
type of games I will be running. The main programs that I will be
runnning will be N2, IC2,GPL, and N3.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

On a low-end system (yes a P200 is low-end), you'll likely get a bigger
performance boost from the Rendition cards than you will with 3Dfx
(though the 3Dfx will likely be better on higher-end PentiumII systems)
as well as getting a little better image quality.  Your best bet would
be with one of the V2200 based Rendition cards such as the Hercules
Thriller3D.  Of course you could always add a Voodoo2 sometime down the
road.

   Rod,
If you are thinking of upgrading in the near future to a P2 system, a
Voodoo II card such as Monster3D II would be the way to go. If you are
staying with your present system, the Voodoo I chipset will do fine. The
Monster3D (Voodoo I chipset) can be found at bargain prices right now, and
will do the job for your system. Sierra/Papy continues to support Rendition
based cards also, so if you feel that is the way to go that will be fine
also. Good luck, hope this helps.
