GP2 with T2...need help with steering control settings

by Dave Ma » Wed, 03 Sep 1997 04:00:00

I've been playing GP2 for only a few weeks, using a T2, and have been
enjoying the game tremendously.  Just recently I've tried turning off
Steering Help, as I've assumed I'll get slightly faster laptimes and
will be able to turn in more precisely on lower speed corners without
it.  However...

I haven't come up with a steering control combination I like for the
maximum lock, reduced sensitivity with speed and low sensitivity zone
settings.  Every combination I've tried hasn't been quite right,
ranging from overly sensitive at high speeds to not sensitive enough
in slower corners.  I'd like a combination of these settings that's
smooth, predictable in control and has "realistic" sensitivity.

Also, I'm assuming that one combination of steering control settings
will behave one way with a low downforce setup, and maybe very
differently with a higher downforce setup, making it difficult to
judge which combination of steering settings is best for most
conditions.

I know that this is probably a highly subjective issue, with no single
right answer.  One driver's dream steering could be another's
nightmare, but I'm hoping that veteran GP2 drivers will be able to
save me a lot of time and frustration with this.  I'd rather spend my
GP2 time racing, instead of reinventing the wheel (pun intended).

Any advice and experiences are appreciated, especially specifics about
what settings you've personally found to be best with a T2.  Also, if
there are rules of thumb about changing steering control settings for
different specific circuits or different types of circuits/car setups,
that'd be great to know too.

TIA,

Dave
