His spec are P4-1.4 GF3-ti200 SBlive.

Tried det4 30.82's then jumped to 42.51 with the same results.
My install went as follows.
1. F1-2002. Install went ok. He then ran F1-2002 creating a driver in the
process.
2. Installed GTR2002 1.0. Install went fine. Didn't run it.
3. Ran 1.2 patch. Install ok. When he runs the game his Pre-Race menu is
all black but the GTR2002 cursor does show up.
After I re-read my first post I realized this may be critical info for
troubleshooting.

It's almost like the res of the pre-race menu is super low. Like 320x240,
You only see a small portion of the menu and because the window cannot be
resized (I hadnt thought of alt-enter) you only see black. The cursor is
quite large BTW.
Bear in mind I can't actually see this problem cause he's across the
country, it's a description from a newb over the phone so some of my
descriptions may be fuzzy.

Mitch, make sure he doesn't have large fonts enabled in windows.

beware of the gamedb entry in the middle of them

It really should say in the readme that you need to run GTR before applying
the 1.2 patch....
