GTR2002 installation problem

by Zen » Sun, 20 Apr 2003 00:38:05

Hi all,

Has anybody experienced this problem after intalling GTR2002? I cannot get
it to run, I get an "Unexptected Error! Quitting" message. This is after
making a clean install of F12002.

I am running an AMM 1600+, with 255RAM, WINXP Pro, etc.

Many thanks

Zen

Would that be the correct spelling of Henrie?  If its the Thierry that
I'm thinking of.

Did you go for a drive in F1 2002 before installing GTR2002?

The following instructions might help.

Go to the simbin forums and read the pinned threads.  They cover just
about every error.
http://www.sbdt.co.uk/forums/index.php?s=7678b93517bab36f6c68bdc608d2...

Here is the short version:

 WinXP:  Install sevice pak 1.

Install f1 2k2 and create a driver..TEST drive
Install GTR2k2 and TEST drive
install GTR2k2 v1.2 patch..TEST drive

if that thread is too long, just use the first part to get to the forums,
http://www.sbdt.co.uk

What video card are you using(and driver version #)?  What sound card and
what vesion of Direct X?

Ok  no problems there.  Do you have A) the XP service pak installed and
B) are you using large fonts on your desktop?  Also try both 32bit color or
16 bit color for your desktop.  Probably it should match what you are using
in the mod.
Compare the two ini files to see if the bottom half of gtr2002config.ini
matches the config.ini file.

Hi,

the "unexpected error" message comes most likely from one of the
runtime files needed by the mod launcher not registered correctly in
your system.

Do a search for the following files: comctl32.ocx and comdlg32.ocx

Overwrite them with the ones from the system folder. Hope this helps.

You're right, it isn't..  It's Thierry Henry (a famous French footballer
who, last I checked, played for Arsenal.  But being a Yank I can't keep
up on it as I'd like so he may be at another club now).. but still a
funny inside joke by Aidee.

Ped Xing

So he's the French guy with an English spelling of his name and I'm a
Yank with English/Scando heritage witha French spelling...go figure.
