F1 2001 is this too easy?

As I can now use the game now after all the graphic problems reasonably
sorted until the patch. My initial view of the sim has left me wondering....

I have concentrated learning the Williams BMW car on the Silverstone
curcuit. I was surprised that with the AI at 100% strenght and agression I
could win the quick-race starting from 10th over 19 laps. I could lap in the
1m19s' and best lap in 1m18s all these laps beating Shumies qualifying time
in 2001.
Not only that but with the default 'Great Britain' setup (only the gears
altered) and all help options off except stabilty, throttle and anti-lock
braking set to low! Which I think is less help than modern F1 drivers have.

Not seriously tried the other tracks yet but this does seem too easy.

The lack of properly called traction-control, auto-gearchange up and the
fact that on the 19th lap the tyres seemed as good as the first lap concerns
me but the cars seem great to drive and to date this does seem the best
modern F1 sim.

You may want to check out the site http://www.the-best.racesim.net/ to see
how easy it can get.

I don't know that much about F1, but I was under the impression that
traction control and gear change were the only aids that were realistic.
Why do you consider stability control realistic?  I know such systems
exist, but I did not think they were allowed in F1.  Also I did not
think ABS was allowed.
