Just bought the v5500 and the graphics in gpl running 3dfx are terrible.
The frame rates are great but at any resolution the graphics sort of break
up.

Tried open gl but all I get is 1/4 screen picture and a computer screen.

Pentium 3 450
v5500
soundblaster live
192megs ram

Any help would be appreciated as I bought this card because I thought with
gpl there
would be no problems.

Thanks   MILO

Were you using a Voodoo2 or 3 previously.  If so you may not have
completely uninstalled it's drivers.  If not, I believe that the
drivers for the Voodoo5 are still evolving.  Check for the latest ones
at their site.  It may also have something to do with the settings you
are using for the card.

I don't have that card myself, but there maybe something in your
default settings for it that need to be modified.  Every account I've
read is that it's a wonderful card for GPL even though the full-screen
anti-aliasing does result in a frame-rate hit.  Someone here should be
able to compare settings with you to get it sorted out.

My advice is to NEVER EVER buy a card as soon as it comes out. NEVER!!
DONT BE A GUINEA PIG FOR THE MANUFACTURER!!
My simming is much too important to waste time testing unproven products.
Period.

I fully agree with you Rik :)

Just wait untill they managed to put some decent drivers on the market...
buying a card that has just hit the market is asking for incompatibilitty
problem (hardware or driver related)....

And prices will drop offcourse :)

Rik... someone has to do it... I mean I was a guinea pig, did lots of testing
and better yet, I shared my experience with GPL on my website....
