F1 2000 AI Rocks!

Well, not rocks, exactly, but it's pretty good
with one little change.

The AI setups are really bad.  I tried driving
some laps with the default AI setup, and could
barely keep it on the track.  No wonder they
can't drive well in the as-released version.

By editing the default.svm setup, and making
it similar to your own setup, most all of the
AI problems are solved.  The will run speeds
very comparable to your own.

One other tweak seems to help a lot too.  In
the terradry.aiw file, lowering the friction
coefficient for the roads from 1.0 to 0.8 or
0.9 makes the AI drivers more careful.  With
it set to 1.0, they will at times spin for
no apparent reason.  With it lowered at bit,
they don't spin as much.

The only other problem I see with the AI is
that they are too willing to make contact.
They drive like the AI in SCGT.  In open
wheel cars, the last thing you want to do
is make contact with someone.  Does anyone
know how to lower the aggression characteristics
for the AI Drivers?

What I cannot understand is, if it was this easy to get the AI behaving
a bit more realistically, then why wasn't this done before the game went
out the door?
