N4 won't boot after installing 1.1.0.0 patch

Hi,

It is*** on the N4 splash screen.  Yes - I did rename the file to
"Nascar Racing 4.exe", and changed the target and start-in paths.  I
even tried double-clicking on the exe in the installed directory.  The
game was installed to the default directory (c:\paprus...).

I was able to get it going last night by clicking on the exe in the
directory, but that no longer works.

I did an uninstall and reinstall last night and the game would load.
Then I applied the patch, made the appropriate changes, and now it
won't load (still hangs at the splash screen).

It will run (last I checked) w/o the patch.

Any ideas?

Make sure you have the ORIGINAL N4 cd in. I had the same problem trying
to use a copy of my original and it drove me nuts. It flat out won't
work. As soon as I put in the original, it lets go racing time!!  BW,
there is a NO-CD fix out for N4 1.1.0.0.

I only have the original CD, no back up.  I just uninstalled it and
reinstalled it and it boots up w/o the patch installed.  So, I will
skip this patch.

Gamecopy world for the no-CD patch?

Okay - I uninstalled and reinstalled.  It loaded.  I applied the patch
- it loaded. I attached my MS SW FF wheel and pedals - it froze again
at the N4 splash screen! What the heck is going on? I have been
playing the unpatched version for a month now w/ no problems!

Try updating your wheel drivers.

I can not, for the life of me, figure out where the driver downloads
are on MSes site!  How frustrating!

Well, I gave up trying to find drivers for it.  I noticed that 4.0 is
the most current version of the software, and that is what I have
installed.
