N2/AWE64 (ISA) Setup

by RWDE » Thu, 20 Aug 1998 04:00:00

I installed an AWE 64 (ISA) card in my system and the card tests ok. But, it
doesn't work when I'm in the game. I performed soundcard autodetect and the
test says that the card is located at 220, IRQ 2, DMA (none). When I test the
sound in setup, the test crashes after a very brief voice is heard. The
alternative IRQ settings are 5, 7 and 10, all of which are being used by other
devices on my system. 5 is being used by COM3, 7 by my printer and 10 by my
video card. IRQs 9 and11 are open. Can I manually set the IRQ for the AWE64 to
either 9 or 11 and will it work with either of those settings? Also, is
location 220 ok, or should it be 240 or another setting? TIA

I had exactly the same problem. It's quite simple: don't let the setup
program perform the autodetect!!!!! In Windows, open a Dos-window and type
"set" and hit ENTER. You'll find a line that reads all your Soundblaster
settings. Write them down and edit the values MANUALLY in the Nascar 2 Setup
program. That'll do.

Hope this helped.
