N1 setups to N2 and some problems

Thought I would tell everyone I took 3 setups of mine N1 and tried them on
N2 and they were my 189 mph setup for Atlanta for Hawaii and my 198 qaul
setup at Dega for Hawaii (120 degrees) and my 199 mph setup for 120 degree
race setup for Hawaii.Well let me say this they ran ok nothing great.First
of all let me start with the Atlanta setup I can run the same speeds in the
turns at Atlanta on N2 as I was on N1,but I turn slower lap times (guess
the track is longer or something) because I could only get a 183.7 when I
was doing 189 before. So I did something I let the fastest car go makes it's
run in Prac. (Terry Labonte) of 185 mph. Then I went to the replay to see
how fast he was doing in the turns to see where I was loosing speed to
him.Well this is pretty amazing he was doing 182 in turns 1 and 2 and 177
in 3 and 4 and 197 on the straights just to turn a 185.8 Wow!!!!But what I
learned from this is I don't have much to go to run with the leaders at
100%.My car was aleardy a top 5 car as it was right out of the box as the
real boys would say.Now Dega my setups weren't much slower than the AI cars
at 100% (did faster with Ace setup at 195.201 at 81 degrees) I ran 194.7
with both setups they were a little tight but was second fastest so I know
where I have to go from here. One thing I have noticed is it's real hard at
times to keep car off apron at dega in the turns and you don't want to hit
apron anymore (love it!!!!!!)Now on to the few problems I am having, the
first one I am having is once in a awhile the screen will flicker while I
am running for some reason it wasn't doing this just started this last
night.ANd the second problem me and my buddy can't modem race for some
reason he has before with someone else but when me and him connect we will
connect fine but when I send it to race his will lock up and lose
connection or it will restart his computer for some reason when Mine will
go straight the race as normal. Can someone help?

One thing you need to be aware of with regard to comparing lap times from
N1 to N2: Higher temperatures mean lower speeds because the engine output
goes down as the temperature goes up. Your best times are probably going to
be run around 60 degrees or so, which is a reasonable compromise between
engine output and tire temperatures.

Not sure what's causing your modem racing problems. Randy and I have had no
problems connecting with the release version of N2. However, if the client
tries to leave the race weekend at the same time as the server, the client
will lock up. You have to either let the server leave first, or make sure
that the client has pressed "OK" on the "OK to leave" dialog.

David I know the hot temp speeds are gone in N2 these speeds I ran are at
Random weather and I think it said 80 to 81 degrees. And about the modem
play all we do is connect and when either I hit the race button or he hits
the race button to take us in it kicks the one that dialed out.

N1 setups to N2 and some problems

by David Spark » Thu, 12 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I'm beginning to suspect that the track length used for calculating average
speed may have been adjusted between N1 and N2 for certain tracks.
Martinsville is even worse than Atlanta, my average lap speeds have dropped
from 99-100 MPH down to 90 MPH with the same setup. I'm pretty sure that's
not just the weather factor, though I suppose old age could be playing a
factor. <g>

One thing to check out: The MULTI driver list on the server (answer) is
used as the basis for the race. Make sure that the client (dialup) has all
of the cars on the server's MULTI list. For example, if you added one of
the IWCCCARS to your MULTI list and your buddy dials in, he's going to have
a problem unless he's got a copy of a car by the same filename on his
machine.
