FWIW, F1 2001 runs at least twice as fast as F1CS2K on my current
system. So far, the PC graphics remind me of a cross between GPL and
NFSPU . . . which is a pretty good mix, IMO.
I am currently working on an F1 2001 preview for the Blackhole
Motorsports site -- EA has provided me with a beta version that
doesn't include all the tracks or all the features, but I have noticed
that the pit guys look around and move occasionally when you're not in
the pits -- VERY lifelike! <G>
The physics are impressive -- ISI has added some unique touches that
really make this VERY immersive. I hesitate to say whether or not the
physics modeling is GPL-calibur, but it is a step up from the F1CS2K
physics. The physics model is amazingly communicative -- I find
myself working the steering wheel like an F1 driver, and when the back
end comes around, I usually know WHY it did, and in most cases I know
WHAT I did to exceed the 10/10ths mark.
The tracks are all-new as far as I can tell, and so far my lap times
at Indy (where I've probably turned the most laps in F1CS2K) are
miserable. I have no trouble turning laps at Indy in F1CS2K that
easily exceed Schumi's 2000 Indy pole speed, but in F1 2001, I'm not
even sure I'm even close to a decent qualifying time yet. The level
of effort required reminds me a lot of GPL . . . I'll leave it up to
you guys to eventually decide if it equals GPL physics-wise, but so
far, I'm impressed.
