Guys, I was speaking to an EA rep who tried to tell me that F12002 is being
'dumbed down' a bit over its predecessor.  I found this remark quite
disturbing but he claimed that EA had received lots of complaints from
people saying that the game is too hard to control - especially with a
keyboard.  Has anyone else heard this?  Please say it isn't so..!

Not even mildly suprised.  the regulars of R.A.S are not like the 999,900
other people who have bought the EA bi-annual drivel.

Maybe if they would have got the controls "right" in f12001 they wouldn't
have heard this. I rediculous that we need to mess with programs like DX
tweak to get rid of these huge dead zone problems. I know I parked this game
because of this. I wasn't about to***up every other game I have for this
one.

What more could you possibly add?  EA has steering help (hand of god),
braking assistance, opposite lock, throttle assistance in two levels, ABS
etc.  It practically drives itself if you just stand on the gas.

Maybe they want some kind of intermediate step, where you don't have to run
with aids (and feel all inadequate) but not have the razor sharp response of
the F1 cars.  Sort of an overdamped, high-grip physics model.  Yuk.

A fair point.....maybe mass genocide of the arcade moaners is in order.  Its
the only solution :)

People trying to play a racing simulator with a keyboard have
bigger problems than lack of control :-)

Hmmm, perhaps we should have an "adopt an arcade racer" program.  Where
someone who is a relatively experienced sim racer finds someone who might
have slight arcade tendancies (strange I know!) and train (brainwash?) them
:).  In turn they will adopt their own arcade racer and we can irradicate
their evil menace from this world......join me brothers! :)

Not for $50.  For $500 they could.  Which is probably less than they'd pay
for a good FF wheel, great graphics card, and the premium for a fast system
over an average one.  But they'd never EVER pay that much for the piece of
software for which they would spend all that extra cash on hardware, would
they?

If it's the kind of ground-breaking work that GPL was on it's initial
release, I bet many would.

I would suspect a few would, I dont think I could stretch that far in all
honesty.  The major problem would be is that MOST people wouldnt and this
would mean there wouldnt be much chance of forming an online racing
community, which IMO is one of the biggest reasons GPL is still around today
(and I still love it!).  I'm not sure I would still be playing GPL if it
didn't have such great multiplayer code and therefore such a great
multiplayer community.

I will be trying to integrate a little network code into my sim in the next
few months (thanks to a little help from a friend).  I think i'll start to
realise what a miracle of networking GPL / n4 / n2002 are ;)

Thanks Randy - GPL is a masterpiece :)

Ash - Nurby league race on Sunday - eek!

KEYBOARD??
To properly use a keyboard to play AN F1 SIM, one must shove the keyboard up
one's ass. Good Grief. WTF?? KEYBOARDS??
Tell your EA rep to blow it out his ass, if they dumb this thing down it's
back to GPCrammond.
