Well copies of GPL at $9.99 in Staples is hardly targetting the *** simmer.
Personally I think the $500 one off price is not tenable. However, a serious
hike over the current (relatively low) price of computer games maybe.

Like all computer games for various reasons sim prices have dropped by about 50%
in the last decade. We have come to expect our sims cost the sames as other
genres of games. Yet many other genres of games only last a few weeks.

I must have spent probably 70 ($100) on Indycar 1. The initial game, track pack
& Indy/paintkit. Spread over I would guess about 6 months. Maybe that is the
answer. Buy the initial game engine and then the add ons. With minimal
distribution costs.

Yes piracy would be an issue, but as multiplayer would be a key feature to a
large number of the customers the approaches used in some the FPSs could be
adopted.

Being a niche product, I'd operate under the assumption of private
distribution.  Much the same way Austin Meyer did with X-Plane in the
early days.  This is not something the local BestBuy would carry, nor
should it.

double-edged sword. It both emboldens the ***, just as it narrows the

need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry,
infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their
rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I

Normally, I'd be inclined to agree.  But Papy seems to have come up with
a system that, I think, has really reduced pirating with both N4 & N2k2.
As long as that kind of system continued, I don't think it would be a
major problem.  And if it provided for full field F1 races...

Borrow a page from .Net & go subscriptionware??  Maybe.  Dunno...

You kidding?  I'd fire it up every holiday.  Then I can stay home &

Hmm, you're right.  I just tried it - GP3's keyboard control is as good as
you could expect from a keyboard.  F12001 is unplayable with a keyboard
unless you play it in 'railroad' mode.

Seems like a decent idea, but one thing to keep in mind is that it
is a bit at loggerheads with the community concept that has grown up
around GPL.  In other words, for this to work, the company making such
a product would have to try to prevent third parties from producing
add-ons for the sim, as that would undercut the company's own attempts
to sell those same add-ons.  Why buy a new track from Papy if the GPLEA
will give it to you for free (and do just as good of a job)?
